Effective boxing betting strategies
Boxing matches are sporting events, the outcome of which has been bet on for over a century. Boxing is long-lived among martial arts and among the sports that appear in bookmakers’ betting odds. Even nowadays the range of events offered by operators is very wide, from high-profile fights between novice and little-known boxers to epic title bouts.
Unlike team sports such as football or hockey, boxing is easy to predict. That is why it cannot boast of either high odds or substantial bookmaker’s margin.
At first sight the predictability of boxing makes it unnecessary to create strategies for betting on this sport. Nevertheless, such strategies do exist, and they are designed for bettors (bettors) who cannot or simply do not want to become analysts.
Why it makes sense to use strategies when betting on boxing
Even a bettor who knows boxing pretty well has a great risk of losing his whole betting budget if he bids haphazardly, relying solely on the odds. Strategies help make systematic bets and manage your game budget. Combined with at least an amateur level of expertise, they can provide a bettor with good profits.
Strategies are particularly important for beginners, who want to win a lot quickly and often act rashly, and before they know it, their budget is “magically” drained.
The main bets in boxing betting
The biggest number of bets, of course, is on the outcome of the fight. This is the main bet. You either bet on the victory of one of the boxers, or on a draw. The possibility of the last one being a draw in boxing is quite low, the odds on that outcome might reach 20.0 and even higher.
Also bets are placed on:
- The duration of the fight: either a full fight or an early end.
- Round totals: Bets on the number of rounds in the fight.
- Victory Round: Bets on the order number of the round, the last one in the particular fight.
- Method of victory: When placing a bet, the bettor must predict whether the winner will be determined by the judges’ decision, whether the fight will end in a knockout, or whether it will be a draw.
- Other parameters: Bets may also be placed on the number of knockdowns or the number of points taken for violations.
The most common boxing betting strategies
As I said before, boxing is a very predictable sport, with clear favourites and underdogs in at least 90% of matches.
All strategies are based on analytical analysis. A bettor may not be an expert, but knowledge of some specific aspects of the sport is essential. Experienced bettors study boxers thoroughly. Before the fights on which they bet, they necessarily watch videos of the athletes’ previous fights.
The most popular strategies for beginners are as follows.
Flat. It is a very simple strategy, the essence of which is choosing betting odds of 1.5-2.0 and betting equal and small amounts. What makes this strategy good is that it includes very effective bankroll management, i.e., game budget management. With this strategy, serious losses are ruled out.
Ladder. The essence of this strategy – the consecutive increase in the amount of bets after the passage of the previous one. That is, all the winnings from the previous event is put on the next event, and on the third event – all the winnings from the previous two events. After three wins the bettor starts all over again with the minimum bets.
Betting against a favourite. The strategy is only suitable for bettors who are not lazy to carefully analyse sporting events. Often in the process of analysis it turns out that the athlete-underdog has a good chance to win. Therefore it is possible to bet on him, and the high odds in such bets will allow in the case of success to rip up a substantial sum.
